Transformative collaboration is achieved through complex and reflexive processes of understanding change. Research actors can establish a transformative mode if they are ready to challenge their assumptions, to unlearn procedures and actively seek to establish dignified relationships. In this section, we provide some ideas about what can be done to set up a transformative mode of collaboration in different disciplines and fields of study.

At the individual level, I would make a deliberate effort to critically question the relevance and limitations of processes and practices that are normalised in research collaborations. I’d question how these practices are reinforcing inequalities and injustices.
